South Africa petrol price set to increase by 3.5 per cent

JOHANNESBURG—South Africa's petrol pump prices in the main inland commercial region will increase by up to 37 cents or 3.5 per cent on October 5, the energy department said. The new pump price for 95 grade petrol will be 10.54 rand ($1.34) a litre in that region, from 10.18 rand last month, while the wholesale diesel price will increase by 3.8 per cent to 9.65 rand. S.Africa mine union says implats ups wage offer

CAPE TOWN-South Africa's National Union of Mineworkers said on Saturday that Impala Platinum had improved its wage offer in a bid to avert a strike at the second-largest producer of the precious metal.
